Peoria, IL – Man Hospitalized After 38 Rounds Fired in Late Night Shooting

Peoria, IL – In a violent late-night incident on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Peoria Police rushed to the 800 block of W. Thrush Avenue following alerts of 38 rounds being fired, as detected by the Shot Spotter system. An adult male was seriously injured in the shooting and was taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle. The gunfire occurred inside a residence, resulting in serious injuries to the victim.

Peoria Police Department officials stated that units from the Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Patrol Unit are actively investigating the scene, where multiple shell casings were found outside the residence. Currently, there are no suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. The police are appealing to the public for any information related to this shooting or other violent crimes.
