Kankakee, IL – Graduation excitement is in full swing this weekend in Kankakee County, with both Kankakee Community College (KCC) and Olivet Nazarene University hosting their commencement ceremonies. KCC’s event is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the George H. Ryan Gymnasium. Kari Nugent, Vice President for Advancement, Marketing, and Public Relations at KCC, invites those unable to attend in person to stream the ceremony online at commencement.kcc.edu.
Olivet Nazarene University is celebrating its 111th commencement with two sessions on Saturday. The morning ceremony will see over 500 students graduating, followed by another 300 in the afternoon. According to Mark Mountain, the university’s Registrar, the number of graduates this year reflects the ongoing efforts to accommodate a large class size.
With nearly 850 graduates between the two institutions, local roads are expected to see an increase in traffic, primarily from visiting families eager to celebrate their graduates’ achievements. Traffic coordinators are in place to manage the flow and ensure a smooth experience for all attendees and residents. Both schools are committed to providing a memorable and organized graduation weekend.
