Grundy County, IL – A fugitive from Oregon, implicated in the attempted kidnapping and abuse of a young child, was arrested in Grundy County, Illinois, marking the conclusion of a nationwide search.
In a collaborative effort, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Minooka, and Channahon Police Departments, with the aid of the FBI, apprehended Jason Patrick Mikel, 28, on April 24, in Minooka, Illinois. Mikel, wanted by Salem Police for severe charges including attempted kidnapping, was detained without incident and now awaits extradition to Oregon.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, surveillance led to Mikel’s capture in the village of Minooka. He faces allegations from an April 1 incident in Salem, Oregon, where he is accused of attempted unlawful sexual penetration and first-degree sex abuse involving a three-year-old.
