Elmhurst, IL – As spring brings warmer weather, it also marks the return of home repair scams in Elmhurst. The Elmhurst Police Department is alerting residents to be cautious of unsolicited offers for home repairs, which increase this time of year.

Scammers, often targeting seniors, may offer services like driveway sealcoating or masonry work at unusually low prices, claiming leftover materials or a desire to “help out.” However, these offers can lead to shoddy or unfinished work, with costs ballooning unexpectedly. Residents are urged to be skeptical of any uninvited home service offers. If approached by such crews, do not engage and call 911 to verify their legitimacy and prevent potential thefts and scams.
