Glen Ellyn, IL – The Glen Ellyn Police Department, in collaboration with Glenbard West High School and other law enforcement agencies across Illinois, is raising an alarm over the game “Senior Assassin,” urging high school students to reconsider their participation.
The game, which involves players using water guns to target each other, has led to several alarming incidents throughout the state, prompting a broader educational initiative.
Recent events in Gurnee and Schaumburg illustrate the potential dangers associated with the game. In Gurnee, a group of students, masked and armed with faux guns, entered a restaurant, nearly causing a violent confrontation with a conceal and carry license holder. Similarly, in Schaumburg, police were called to a parking garage where students wielding realistic-looking water guns caused a scare, leading to a substantial police response.
These incidents highlight the risks of using water guns that mimic real firearms, especially in public spaces. The game, while not illegal, is frowned upon by school authorities and law enforcement due to the potential for misunderstanding and serious consequences, including possible criminal charges.
Statewide, police departments are urging parents to discuss the implications of the game with their children. Schools are also reinforcing their policies against the game on campus to prevent any potential safety issues. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity by dialing 911.
