Cheyenne, Wyo. – Drivers across Wyoming should prepare for changing weather conditions this weekend, with isolated rain and snow showers expected Saturday along I-80 and powerful winds sweeping through southeast Wyoming by late Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a weak cold front will bring gusty west winds up to 50 mph from Sunday night through Monday, especially east of I-25. Afternoon highs Saturday will range from 35–45°F west of I-25 to 45–55°F farther east. Conditions will warm slightly Sunday with highs climbing into the mid-50s to mid-60s.

Saturday’s precipitation will be scattered, mostly south of I-80, while the north remains mostly sunny. Sunday will be warmer but breezy, with increasing cloud cover signaling the arrival of unsettled weather next week. Rain showers and thunderstorms—along with mountain snow above 8,000 feet—are expected to increase by mid to late week.

Travelers on I-80 and I-25 should use caution in windy areas and secure loose outdoor items. Drivers of high-profile vehicles may experience difficulty along open stretches Sunday night into Monday.

Winds are expected to calm midweek, but more advisories may follow as storms redevelop.
