Cheyenne, Wyo. – Scattered thunderstorms could pack a punch across Wyoming this afternoon, with strong winds and small hail threatening parts of the state through 9 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a marginal risk for severe weather exists for most of Wyoming today, including cities like Casper, Riverton, and Laramie. The window for the strongest storms will be between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., with gusty winds and hail as the main hazards.
While the storms are not expected to be widespread or long-lasting, they may briefly intensify, especially along I-25 and I-80 corridors. Drivers should prepare for sudden visibility drops, slick roads, and possible hail bursts. Lightning is also a concern in open areas and near mountain ranges.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, monitor NOAA weather alerts, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. School events and evening commutes may be affected, particularly in Cheyenne, Rawlins, and Douglas.
Storm activity is expected to taper off later tonight, but additional disturbances could return later this week. Stay weather-aware as conditions shift heading into the weekend.
