Wyoming High Winds Persist Through Monday: Safety Alerts Issued for I-80 Summit

Cheyenne, WY – Residents and travelers across southeast Wyoming should brace for powerful wind gusts of up to 75 mph through early Monday. High Wind Warnings are now active, with the strongest winds expected to peak on Sunday.

The National Weather Service reports that gusts will significantly impact the I-80 Summit from 7 a.m. Sunday through 4 p.m., creating hazardous conditions for high-profile vehicles and light trailers. Travelers should use extreme caution and consider alternate routes. Strong winds will also hit Bordeaux early Sunday morning and Arlington later in the day, compounding road safety concerns.

A cooler week lies ahead for Cheyenne after the winds subside. Today, highs will reach 59°F under sunny skies, with west winds gusting up to 25 mph. Sunday brings increasing winds with highs of 54°F before temperatures drop sharply overnight to 14°F.

Monday begins the cooling trend, with daytime highs near 33°F and breezy northwesterly winds. By Tuesday, highs will reach just 33°F with more sunshine and gusty winds. Midweek, conditions will stabilize as temperatures hover around the mid-40s.
