Cheyenne, Wyoming – Drivers across southeast Wyoming and into western Nebraska should brace for dangerously low visibility Thursday night as dense fog blankets stretches of Interstate 80 from Laramie to Kimball, Nebraska.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, fog with visibility less than half a mile is expected to persist overnight, accompanied by slick road conditions and stratiform rain showers. Heavier fog and spotty snow showers are also likely along the I-25 corridor, especially near Bear Creek, and could extend into Nebraska by early Friday.

Road cameras show thick fog already affecting I-80 at Cheyenne East and Remount, with reduced clarity and wet pavement. The South Laramie Range could see light snow accumulation, making mountain passes even more hazardous. Drivers should be prepared for rapid changes in visibility and conditions over short distances.

Travelers are advised to delay non-essential trips, reduce speed, and use low beams. Check WYDOT and NE511 for updates and road closures.

Fog, rain, and snow impacts are expected to continue into Friday morning. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
