Milwaukee, WI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across southeast Wisconsin, creating hazardous travel conditions this morning. The advisory began at 6 a.m. and will remain in place until noon, affecting areas from Milwaukee to Janesville.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are possible, especially near the Kettle Moraine region, where accumulations may reach 5 inches. Gusty northwest winds of up to 45 mph will reduce visibility and make driving challenging. The heaviest snow is expected during the early morning commute.
Snow will transition to a mix of rain and snow by midday as temperatures rise above freezing. Slick roads and icy bridges could persist throughout the day, especially during heavy snow bands. Commuters should plan extra travel time and maintain safe stopping distances.
The National Weather Service urges residents to use caution when traveling and prepare for potential tree damage caused by strong winds. The wintry mix will taper off by afternoon, leaving behind wet but drivable conditions.
