Green Bay, WI – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions across northern Wisconsin, with accumulations reaching up to 10 inches in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Vilas, Oneida, Florence, Forest, Lincoln, and Langlade counties from late Tuesday night through 6 p.m. Wednesday. The storm is expected to bring heavy snow and strong wind gusts up to 35 mph, creating blowing and drifting snow that could significantly reduce visibility.

Residents in Vilas County can expect between 7 to 10 inches of snow, while Oneida, Florence, Forest, Lincoln, and Langlade counties are forecasted to receive between 5 and 8 inches. The snow will begin after midnight, following a period of rain Tuesday evening, and continue throughout Wednesday.

Officials warn that travel will be difficult, particularly during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Road conditions are expected to become slippery, and visibility may be severely impacted. Motorists are urged to delay travel if possible and monitor local advisories for updates.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for potential power outages due to heavy snow and strong winds. Those venturing outside should dress in warm layers and exercise caution on icy surfaces.
