Door County, WI – Snowfall is set to blanket Door County as a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect early Sunday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation.

The advisory will be active from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, creating hazardous road conditions for early travelers. The NWS stated that residents should prepare for reduced visibility and slippery roadways, urging drivers to slow down and use caution.

According to the advisory, cities such as Sister Bay, Fish Creek, and Sturgeon Bay will be affected. Snowfall is expected to intensify during morning hours before tapering off later in the afternoon. Those venturing out should remain updated on weather developments by calling 511 for road condition reports.

Local officials are advising residents to check their vehicles and stock up on winter essentials ahead of the storm. Businesses in the area are preparing for a slower day, with many opting to delay opening hours due to expected travel difficulties.

Meteorologists emphasized that although the storm is moderate, it poses a safety risk, especially for those traveling long distances. Snowplows will be active, but conditions may still deteriorate quickly during heavier snowfall periods.

Door County residents should clear walkways and driveways promptly after the snowfall stops. Allowing snow to build up could make removal more challenging as temperatures dip Sunday evening.

This weather system marks the first significant snowfall of January, reminding Wisconsin residents of the challenges that winter brings. Travelers are advised to stay home if possible until conditions improve.
