La Crosse, Wisconsin – Cooler, drier air will settle over western Wisconsin on Saturday, offering a brief break from storms before widespread rain returns by Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, Saturday will bring highs in the low to mid-50s with overnight lows dipping into the 30s—roughly 10 degrees cooler than Friday. The dry spell won’t last long, though. Rain is expected to spread across the region early Sunday and persist into Monday, with some areas likely to receive over an inch of rainfall.
Communities from La Crosse to Prairie du Chien, and stretching east through Sparta and Black River Falls, should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility through the second half of the weekend. Storm drains could clog with spring debris, and minor ponding is possible in low-lying areas.
Residents are urged to complete any outdoor work or travel plans Saturday while conditions are dry. Keep devices charged and check local alerts in case of isolated thunderstorms Sunday night. While no severe weather is currently expected, gusty winds and brief downpours are possible.
Rain should taper off by Monday night, with milder temperatures returning midweek. Another update from the NWS is expected Saturday evening.
