Milwaukee, WI – Wisconsin’s early taste of Arctic winter isn’t fading anytime soon. According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook, issued December 1, the state will remain under below-normal temperatures from December 9 through December 15, as frigid air continues to grip the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.

Forecasters expect daytime highs to hover in the 20s and 30s, with overnight lows in the teens or single digits — especially across the Northwoods. The persistent chill will combine with lingering moisture over the Great Lakes to produce periodic snow showers, particularly for Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Sheboygan.

NOAA also calls for above-normal precipitation, signaling a continuation of light to moderate snow events through mid-month. Travel may become slick at times, especially during early commutes and evening hours when temperatures plunge.

Meanwhile, states out west — including California, Texas, and the Southwest — will see a starkly different pattern, with above-average warmth and dry weather dominating the week.

For Wisconsin, the Arctic air looks to stick around well into mid-December, reinforcing the state’s early start to winter. Any short-lived thaws later in the month will likely be followed by another return of cold and snow heading toward the holidays.
