Superior, WI – A winter storm is set to impact northern Wisconsin through Wednesday, bringing a mix of snow, ice, and high winds. Travelers and residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions and potential power outages.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Douglas County until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation expected. A Winter Storm Watch follows from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon, with additional snowfall up to an inch and continued icy conditions.

Further inland, Bayfield, Washburn, Sawyer, and Price counties could see between 3 and 7 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to 40 mph. A mix of rain and snow is expected Tuesday evening before shifting to all snow overnight. The heaviest snowfall is expected late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, potentially affecting the morning commute.

Ashland and Iron counties, including northern Iron County, may receive 6 to 11 inches of snow, with gusty winds and reduced visibility. Blowing snow and ice could lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages, particularly near Lake Superior’s shorelines.

Officials urge residents to exercise caution while driving, leave extra time for travel, and monitor weather updates at www.weather.gov/dlh/winter.
