Madison, WI – Gusty winds and changing temperatures will usher in a volatile weather pattern for southern Wisconsin starting Monday, with light snow possible by early Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office, winds will increase sharply on Monday, with gusts reaching 35 to 45 mph across much of the region, including Madison and Milwaukee. A dry cold front moving through late Sunday night will trigger the shift, bringing a cooler air mass and chances of rain and snow into the early part of the week.
Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon, particularly north of Madison. Overnight, colder air will push temperatures down to the low 30s, increasing the potential for snow, especially during early morning hours Tuesday.
Tuesday’s highs will struggle to reach the upper 40s, with lows dipping into the upper 20s, marking a sharp contrast to weekend warmth. By Wednesday, conditions are forecast to become drier and more seasonable, with highs in the 50s and light winds.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items ahead of Monday’s wind event and monitor local weather alerts for updates on potential snow. Drivers should prepare for slick roads early Tuesday, especially during the morning commute.
