Milwaukee, Wis. – Street flooding and heavy downpours could impact parts of southeast Wisconsin tonight as a line of thunderstorms brings up to 2 inches of rain across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, the heaviest rainfall will develop along a corridor stretching from the Wisconsin-Illinois border through Milwaukee, Waukesha, and up toward Fond du Lac. Storms are expected to redevelop between 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday and continue overnight into early Wednesday. Some isolated storms may become marginally severe, bringing gusty winds alongside the downpours.

Rain totals of 0.75 to 2 inches are expected in cities like Watertown, Jefferson, Janesville, and Madison, with localized areas possibly exceeding 2 inches. Urban and small stream flooding is a concern in low-lying neighborhoods and poorly drained intersections, particularly in areas already saturated from earlier rainfall.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and check local alerts before commuting Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Residents should charge mobile devices and monitor sump pumps, especially in flood-prone basements.

Showers are expected to taper off by late Wednesday morning, though additional advisories may follow depending on rainfall totals overnight.
