Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Summer heat and poor air quality will converge across southeastern Wisconsin today, with ozone levels reaching “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” by midday and storms threatening the evening commute.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect until 11:00 p.m. Sunday for Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and surrounding areas along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Individuals with asthma, respiratory issues, or heart conditions are urged to stay indoors, limit exertion, and keep quick-relief medications nearby.
Temperatures will climb to 92°F on Sunday, with humidity pushing the heat index even higher. By late afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop after 5 p.m., especially near the I-43 corridor between Sheboygan and Kenosha. Rainfall totals could reach a quarter inch in some spots, and gusty winds may cause localized tree damage.
Travelers along I-94 and I-43 should be alert to reduced visibility and sudden downpours after sunset, especially in low-lying and urban areas. Outdoor events and park plans should be rescheduled or moved indoors.
