Milwaukee, WI – A steady snowfall is expected across southeastern Wisconsin today, with the heaviest accumulation occurring this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee/Sullivan warns of significant travel impacts, especially during the evening commute.

According to the NWS, light flurries began this morning, with moderate snow spreading from west to east. Snowfall rates could reach up to 1 inch per hour near Lake Michigan due to lake enhancement, while inland areas will see a third to half an inch per hour. The snowfall will continue through late evening before tapering off after midnight.

Accumulations are expected to be highest in southeastern Wisconsin, with localized totals of 3-6 inches. Snow will linger longest along the Lake Michigan shoreline due to lake effect conditions. Winds will remain light, reducing the risk of blowing and drifting snow.

Motorists should prepare for slippery roads, particularly during the evening rush hour. Authorities advise reducing speeds and allowing extra travel time. Snow is expected to fully clear the region by early Thursday morning.
