Medford, WI – Snowy conditions and gusty winds are creating hazardous travel across central Wisconsin Sunday, with impacts expected to continue into early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Taylor and Clark counties, including the cities of Medford and Neillsville, until 1 a.m. CDT Monday. Steady snowfall, accompanied by wind gusts up to 35 mph, is reducing visibility and turning roadways slick.

Eastern Taylor County could see between 1 and 4 inches of additional accumulation, with locally higher amounts possible. Clark County is expected to receive a trace to 2 inches. Roads that began the afternoon wet and slushy are expected to become snow-covered as heavier bands move through.

Visibility may drop to half a mile or less during periods of intense snowfall. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time.

Residents can check current road conditions at 511wi.gov before heading out. The National Weather Service advises continued caution as snow moves east through the evening, gradually tapering off by early Monday.
