Green Bay, WI – A fresh round of thunderstorms is forecast to sweep across Wisconsin Friday, with east-central regions like Green Bay and Oshkosh facing the most significant severe weather threats during the late afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the greatest risk for strong to severe thunderstorms will occur between 5 and 9 p.m. Friday. The storm system is expected to bring strong winds up to 60 mph and hail as large as 1 inch in diameter, especially to areas including Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and Portage.

The NWS categorizes the region under a “slight risk” for severe storms, with a possibility of isolated hail-producing cells and damaging wind gusts. Thunderstorms could develop throughout the day, but the window of peak severity will align with evening hours.

Residents are urged to monitor local weather alerts and prepare for the possibility of localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Drivers should plan for rapidly changing road conditions during the evening commute.

This round of storms follows a pattern of volatile spring weather in Wisconsin, where storm cells can quickly intensify. Stay tuned to updates and consider postponing outdoor plans late Friday.
