La Crosse, Wis. – Morning showers across western Wisconsin will give way to a more dangerous round of storms late Sunday into Monday, bringing the threat of large hail, damaging winds, and even tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, isolated strong to severe storms are possible Monday morning, with a higher risk of widespread severe weather developing by Monday night. All modes of severe weather are possible, including wind gusts over 60 mph, golf ball-sized hail, and tornadoes. High temperatures will climb from the mid-50s to near 80 degrees today before dropping back to the 50s and 60s by midweek.

Cities including La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Prairie du Chien are under a Level 4 out of 5 severe weather risk for Monday evening. Drivers are urged to monitor local alerts, avoid non-essential travel during storms, and ensure mobile devices are charged in case of power outages.

This system marks one of the most significant severe threats so far this spring for the region. Warnings and watches are likely to be issued as the storms develop, with updates continuing through Monday night.
