Wisconsin – Wind already rattles lakefront signs along Lake Michigan this morning, and the air carries that sharp late-winter bite Milwaukee knows well. Conditions remain calm for now, but stronger winds and a messy rain-to-snow stretch are lining up across southeast Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a Wind Advisory begins late tonight and continues through Friday evening. Southerly winds increase rapidly overnight and shift west Friday, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha counties.

Drivers along Interstate 94, I-43, and Highway 41 should prepare for crosswinds on elevated roadways and bridges near Lake Michigan. Gusty winds could also blow around unsecured objects and occasionally knock down tree limbs.

Temperatures climb into the low 40s today, with mostly sunny skies returning after a few isolated morning snow showers. The weather shifts quickly later tonight as the next storm pushes into southern Wisconsin.

Rain spreads into the Milwaukee area tonight and may briefly mix with snow before daybreak. Winds strengthen at the same time, making for blustery conditions heading into Friday morning.

Friday stays windy with partial sunshine and highs near 43°F. While precipitation becomes more scattered, strong winds could still affect travel and create choppy conditions along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Meteorologists are now watching the weekend system closely. Clouds thicken Saturday, and snow is expected to develop Saturday night. Forecast guidance suggests around 3 to 5 inches of snow possible in parts of southeast Wisconsin, especially inland from Milwaukee.

By Sunday, precipitation may shift between rain and snow as temperatures hover near 41°F. Gusty winds could produce reduced visibility and slushy road conditions.

Spring break travelers using I-94 between Milwaukee and Chicago should plan extra time Sunday as conditions may deteriorate quickly.

Warmer spring air could return later next week as the Midwest begins transitioning toward the first official day of spring.

Five Day Outlook for Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Today – Mostly sunny after early snow showers. High near 43°F.
Tonight – Rain developing with breezy winds. Low near 34°F.
Friday – Partly sunny and windy. High near 43°F, gusts up to 50 mph.
Saturday – Cloudy with highs near 38°F.
Sunday – Rain and snow likely, breezy. High near 41°F.
