Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Heavy rain and isolated severe thunderstorms are expected to drench southern Wisconsin from this afternoon through Wednesday morning, with localized flooding and strong wind gusts possible across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a slow-moving cold front will trigger repeated rounds of showers and storms, peaking overnight Tuesday. Rainfall totals could exceed 2 inches in some locations, especially along a corridor stretching from La Crosse through Madison to Milwaukee, increasing the risk of urban and small stream flooding.

Drivers along I-94 and Highway 151 should prepare for slick conditions and limited visibility late Tuesday, with the heaviest rainfall expected after 6 p.m. Communities such as Janesville, Fond du Lac, and Waukesha are also in the zone of concern. Some storms may become marginally severe, producing gusts over 40 mph.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways, secure outdoor items, and monitor alerts throughout the evening. Charging mobile devices and preparing for potential power outages is advised.

The storm threat will taper off by mid-morning Wednesday, but forecasters say additional advisories may be issued if flooding intensifies.
