Green Bay, Wis. – Smoke drifting into Wisconsin from distant wildfires is clouding skies and could impact air quality through midweek, while a more active pattern builds with thunderstorms possible by Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, hazy conditions will persist through Wednesday, with low overnight shower chances around 20% across northern parts of the state. Daytime highs Wednesday will reach 70 to 80 degrees, and storm chances increase in central Wisconsin by Wednesday night.
By Thursday, the chance of scattered showers rises to 20 to 50% across east-central and northeastern areas, with highs cooling to the 60s and low 70s. Friday brings the highest threat of impactful weather, as moisture from a developing system could bring 60 to 80% chances of showers and storms across much of the state, particularly in the Fox Valley and central counties.
Periods of heavy rain Thursday night into Friday could produce localized totals of one inch or more. Residents should prepare for possible reduced visibility from smoke, wet commutes, and isolated power outages if storms intensify.
Conditions remain unsettled into the weekend, and additional advisories may be issued.
