Green Bay, Wis. – Smoky skies and rising temperatures will blanket much of Wisconsin on Monday, with inland areas heating up into the mid-80s while wildfire smoke lingers in the air.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, widespread haze will persist across the state as smoke from Canadian wildfires drifts overhead. Temperatures away from Lake Michigan are expected to soar into the low- to mid-80s by afternoon. Southwest winds will pick up throughout the day, gusting between 20 and 25 mph in many areas.

Inland cities such as Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, and Appleton will feel the brunt of the warmth, while lakeside communities like Sheboygan and Sturgeon Bay remain several degrees cooler due to onshore breezes. The added wind may increase the spread of smoke and lower visibility, particularly along U.S. Highway 41 and I-39 corridors.

Residents with respiratory conditions are advised to limit outdoor activity, especially during the afternoon peak. Secure outdoor items, as wind gusts may be strong enough to move light objects.

Hazy, warm conditions are expected to linger into Tuesday, with wind speeds tapering off overnight. Additional air quality alerts may be issued if smoke concentrations increase.
