Green Bay, WI – Arctic air is expected to sweep into Wisconsin this weekend, bringing dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills as low as -30 degrees. Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions starting Sunday and lasting through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow flurries and slippery roads are expected Thursday evening across east-central Wisconsin. Temperatures will plummet beginning Friday night, with lows near -1 degree and wind gusts up to 29 mph. By Sunday, subzero temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills will create life-threatening outdoor conditions.

Drivers are urged to use caution Thursday night as slick roadways may develop, particularly on heavily traveled routes like Interstate 43 and State Highway 29. Anyone planning outdoor activities this weekend is advised to limit exposure, dress in layers, and ensure all skin is covered.

Friday’s forecast calls for highs near 38 degrees with cloudy skies before the sharp temperature drop begins overnight. Saturday will see highs only reaching 23 degrees with increasing winds. Sunday’s high will struggle to reach 3 degrees, while wind chills could range from -20 to -30 degrees. This frigid trend will continue into Monday, with overnight lows near -13 degrees.

The cold snap is expected to ease by midweek, with a return to more seasonal temperatures by Wednesday. Residents are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors, bring pets indoors, and monitor local weather updates.
