Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Lake Michigan won’t be welcoming swimmers today as dangerous waves up to six feet and strong currents pose serious risks across Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha beaches.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through 7 a.m. Monday, with northerly onshore winds and building waves expected to intensify Sunday afternoon and evening. Moderate to high swim risks will continue overnight, making shoreline conditions unsafe for all beachgoers.
Residents are strongly urged to stay away from piers and breakwalls, where longshore currents could pull even experienced swimmers into deeper water. Life-threatening rip currents are possible, especially near Bradford Beach, North Beach in Racine, and Simmons Island Beach in Kenosha.
Thunderstorms are also possible by Monday afternoon, with storm chances returning again Tuesday and Wednesday. Roads may become slick at times, especially during peak commuting hours. While no flooding is expected, localized downpours could reduce visibility and create hazards on I-794, Highway 32, and other coastal roadways.
