MILWAUKEE, WI – Spring-like warmth is on the way for Wisconsin, but first, drivers should be cautious overnight as slick roads develop. A combination of wet surfaces and freezing temperatures could create hazardous conditions on untreated roads through early Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will rise significantly on Sunday, reaching a high of 55°F in Milwaukee, with mostly sunny skies and light winds. However, before the warm-up, overnight lows will drop to around 25°F, allowing wet roads to freeze. Motorists should be extra cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring even warmer conditions, with highs reaching 60°F and continued sunshine. Tuesday will be slightly cooler, with highs in the low 50s and mostly sunny skies. The midweek forecast includes partly cloudy conditions with highs in the upper 40s on Wednesday, warming to the mid-50s by Thursday.
Daylight saving time begins early Sunday morning, meaning clocks will spring forward one hour. The extended daylight will bring more evening sunshine as the region continues transitioning to spring-like weather.
Travelers on major roadways, including I-94 and I-43, should remain alert overnight for possible slick spots, but warmer temperatures will improve conditions by Sunday afternoon.
Wisconsin’s next chance of precipitation comes late in the week, but for now, dry and mild conditions will dominate.
