La Crosse, Wis. – Widespread severe storms are expected to hammer much of Wisconsin Monday afternoon and night, with tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds posing serious threats, especially across the central and western parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a Level 4 (Moderate) risk—the second-highest on the scale—has been issued for areas from Decorah to Eau Claire and extending into parts of southwest Wisconsin. Storms are most likely to develop late Monday afternoon and persist into the night, with a 50–90% chance of strong storms statewide.

Communities including La Crosse, Prairie du Chien, and Richland Center should prepare for potential tornadoes, wind gusts over 60 mph, and hail larger than quarters. Travel could become hazardous, especially on I-90 and Highway 61. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and review tornado safety plans.

This marks one of the most significant storm threats of the season so far. Updates are expected as timing and severity become more certain. Multiple warnings may follow, and watches could be issued as early as midday Monday.
