La Crosse, Wisconsin – Severe storms are expected to impact much of southern and western Wisconsin, eastern Iowa, and southeastern Minnesota Monday afternoon and night, bringing the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and even tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a Level 3 severe thunderstorm risk has been issued for areas including La Crosse, Rochester, Cedar Rapids, and Mason City. Showers and storms are likely to develop from mid-afternoon through late evening, with probabilities of severe weather between 40% and 80%. All hazards—including hail up to golf ball size, 60+ mph winds, and isolated tornadoes—are possible across the region, especially along the I-90 and I-35 corridors.

Communities in counties such as Monroe, Vernon, Allamakee, and Winneshiek should review severe weather safety plans and consider postponing outdoor activities. The threat may disrupt travel on major roadways and could lead to scattered power outages if winds strengthen. Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings, charge mobile devices, and stay near sturdy shelter as storms move in.

Storm risks are expected to persist into Monday night, with further updates and potential new advisories possible as conditions develop. Stay tuned to local alerts for the latest information.
