La Crosse, WI – Residents can expect a mild weekend with highs reaching the mid-40s, but colder weather looms early next week. Forecasters warn of a sharp drop in temperatures and possible snow, urging travelers to plan ahead for Thanksgiving week.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, Saturday will stay mostly cloudy with highs around 42 degrees and calm winds. Sunday brings even warmer conditions, with highs reaching 46 degrees, making it ideal for outdoor activities or holiday shopping. By Monday, however, temperatures will plunge, with highs in the low 30s and snow chances at 20%.

Nighttime lows will fall sharply, with Monday night reaching 18 degrees, increasing frost risks for motorists on US-53 and I-90. Forecasters also note gusty winds up to 24 mph Monday, further complicating travel.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, expect partly sunny skies with highs near 32 degrees and lows dipping into the teens. Though no major storms are currently forecast, chilly conditions will dominate the holiday.

Residents are encouraged to prepare vehicles for winter driving, with special attention to tire pressure and fluid levels. Pedestrians should also watch for slippery sidewalks during frosty mornings.

The five-day forecast:

• Sunday: Mostly cloudy, high of 46°F.

• Monday: Slight snow chances, high of 32°F, gusts up to 24 mph.

• Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high of 31°F.
