Milwaukee, WI – A cold weather advisory remains in effect for several Wisconsin counties, with dangerously low wind chills forecasted Tuesday morning. Temperatures are expected to plunge as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit, creating a severe frostbite risk.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts Fond du Lac, Columbia, Green Lake, Marquette, Sauk, Dodge, and Washington counties. The warning, which started early Tuesday morning, will continue until 9 a.m. Central Standard Time. Residents in affected areas are urged to take precautions, as frostbite can occur on exposed skin in under 30 minutes.

The advisory highlights the need for residents to stay indoors whenever possible. If venturing outside, the weather service recommends wearing insulated clothing, hats, and gloves. Officials stress the importance of monitoring vulnerable individuals, such as children, the elderly, and pets, as they are particularly susceptible to extreme cold.

The freezing temperatures are caused by Arctic air moving into the region, which is combining with steady winds to create dangerous wind chills. The cold snap is expected to subside later today, with temperatures rising gradually by the afternoon. However, experts advise caution throughout the morning as travel conditions may also be affected.

For those who must travel, ensuring vehicles are equipped with emergency supplies is crucial. Items such as blankets, food, water, and a phone charger can be lifesaving in case of an emergency.
