La Crosse, WI – Residents of western Wisconsin should prepare for a dramatic shift in weather as colder air arrives Tuesday, followed by subzero wind chills and a chance of snow. The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the 40s and 50s for Sunday and Monday before a steep drop in temperatures by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, daytime highs on Tuesday will struggle to reach the mid-20s. Overnight lows will dip into the teens, but wind chills could make conditions feel well below zero. These frigid temperatures are expected to persist through the middle of the week, accompanied by gusty winds.

Light snow showers are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with the highest chances along major roadways such as Interstate 90. While accumulation remains uncertain, slippery conditions could develop for morning commuters. Residents should stay alert for updates and prepare vehicles for winter travel.

Looking further ahead, temperatures are expected to hover in the teens on Wednesday, with single-digit lows overnight. A slight warm-up is forecast by Thursday, with highs in the low teens and sunny skies, though gusty northwest winds will continue to make it feel much colder.

For those spending time outdoors, layers and proper winter gear are essential to avoid frostbite in the bitter conditions. Check your local weather alerts and take precautions as colder weather settles in this week.
