Green Bay, WI – Northwest winds are bringing favorable conditions for lake effect snow, expected to accumulate in Vilas County through Friday. Snowfall totals may reach 4 inches for most areas, with heavier amounts possible in snowbelt regions. These conditions could create slick roads and hazardous travel for Thanksgiving and Black Friday plans.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, drivers should expect reduced visibility and icy conditions, particularly along U.S. 51 and other major routes in northern Wisconsin. NWS recommends carrying emergency supplies if traveling in affected areas and allowing extra travel time through Friday.

Thanksgiving Day will see partly sunny skies in Green Bay with a high near 30°F. Winds from the northwest at 7 to 11 mph could make it feel colder. Tonight, snow flurries are likely before 4 a.m., with lows dipping to 20°F. Gusts as high as 24 mph could worsen conditions overnight.

Friday’s forecast remains chilly, with a high near 27°F and west winds up to 15 mph. Snow will taper off by Friday night, leaving behind partly cloudy skies and lows near 15°F.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring sunshine and slightly warmer conditions, with highs near 26°F. Sunday offers the warmest temperatures of the weekend, reaching 33°F, but another chance for flurries may develop Sunday night.

If traveling over the weekend, monitor weather updates and prepare for fluctuating road conditions. Local authorities encourage residents to check road reports before heading out.
