Greenville, NC – Eastern North Carolina is bracing for a winter storm expected to bring snow, ice, and hazardous travel conditions from Wednesday morning through Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Newport/Morehead City, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for several counties, including Pitt, Martin, Beaufort, and Craven. Forecasters predict 1 to 3 inches of snow and up to three-tenths of an inch of ice, increasing the risk of power outages and tree damage.

Coastal areas, including West Carteret and Coastal Onslow Counties, could see a light glaze of ice and slick road conditions, impacting the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Officials urge residents to prepare for potential power outages and avoid unnecessary travel. Drivers should exercise caution, as roads and bridges may become dangerously slick.

The storm’s timing and intensity remain uncertain, but updates will be provided as conditions develop. Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts and emergency alerts for the latest information.
