Cedar Rapids, IA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across portions of Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska on Friday as snow and gusty winds create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois, including cities such as Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Freeport, will see snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. Some areas may experience a mix of rain and snow in the afternoon. The advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. CST, with slippery roads expected to impact the morning commute.

Further west, parts of central, north-central, and panhandle Nebraska—including Broken Bow, Oshkosh, and Burwell—are under a separate winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. CST. Snowfall totals in Nebraska are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches, accompanied by wind gusts up to 35 mph, potentially reducing visibility and creating difficult travel conditions.

Motorists in the affected regions are urged to slow down and exercise caution on the roads. In Iowa, updated road conditions can be accessed at 511ia.org, while Illinois travelers can check gettingaroundillinois.com. Nebraska residents can find the latest travel updates by calling 511 or visiting weather.gov/lbf.

Travelers should plan for delays and allow extra time to reach their destinations as winter weather continues to impact the region throughout the day.
