According to the US National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, precipitation will begin late Monday morning, transitioning to steady snowfall by early afternoon. Areas south of I-96 could see sleet or light freezing rain, causing icy roadways. Temperatures will remain in the mid-30s, with a light glaze of ice possible on elevated surfaces.
The storm is expected to disrupt Monday’s evening commute. Motorists should plan for delays and reduced visibility. Road crews are preparing to manage icy conditions, particularly on highways such as M-46 and M-59.
Christmas Eve will bring milder conditions, with highs in the 30s and no significant snowfall. Christmas Day carries a slight chance of light rain, with highs in the mid-50s.
