Grand Junction, CO – Winter storm conditions are set to impact high-altitude areas of Colorado and Utah, with snow expected to accumulate up to 12 inches in some regions by Saturday afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple mountain ranges starting tonight.

The Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide, La Sal and Abajo Mountains, and various areas in the San Juan, West Elk, and Sawatch mountain ranges will see snow starting at midnight tonight. Total snow accumulations are expected to range from 6 to 12 inches, with higher elevations potentially receiving up to 16 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, travel in these regions could be hazardous. Winds will gust up to 45 mph, potentially causing difficult driving conditions, tree branch breakage, and road closures. This may severely impact the Friday morning and evening commutes in areas like Ridgway, Telluride, Aspen, and Vail.

Residents are advised to slow down and take extra caution while traveling, as road conditions could rapidly deteriorate. Motorists can check local road conditions by calling 511 for real-time updates.

Snowfall will continue through Saturday, with the heaviest accumulation expected above 8,000 feet.
