Sacramento, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Northern California until 4 p.m. PST Thursday, as heavy snowfall is expected in higher elevations, potentially impacting travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, snow accumulation will range from 3 to 8 inches between 4,000 and 5,500 feet, with 10 to 16 inches possible at elevations above 5,500 feet. Light snow accumulation may also occur between 3,000 and 4,000 feet late Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Affected areas include Burney Basin, Eastern Shasta County, the West Slope of the Northern Sierra Nevada, and Western Plumas County, including Quincy, Blue Canyon, Burney, and Chester. Snow levels will lower to 4,000-5,000 feet Wednesday evening before dropping to 3,000-3,500 feet by Thursday morning.
Travelers should expect hazardous conditions, including slick roads, chain controls, and potential delays, especially during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
