Albany, NY – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of northern New York and Vermont, effective from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. This advisory includes areas already under alert in Northern Warren and Hamilton Counties, as well as additional regions in Southern Franklin, Western Clinton, and Western Essex Counties in New York, and central and eastern Vermont.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, freezing rain with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch is expected. Affected Vermont counties include Orleans, Essex, Lamoille, Caledonia, Washington, Orange, and Windsor. Freezing rain is forecast to transition to rain later Tuesday as temperatures rise.
Travel could be hazardous, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute. Officials urge caution on the roads and recommend monitoring NOAA Weather Radio or local broadcasts for updates.
