Sioux Falls, SD – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for parts of northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, and southeast South Dakota. The National Weather Service warns of mixed precipitation, including light snow, sleet, and ice, which may cause hazardous travel conditions.

According to the NWS, snow and sleet accumulations are expected to reach up to one inch, with ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch. The advisory affects areas such as Sioux City, Spirit Lake, Sioux Falls, and Yankton. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to become slick, impacting the Friday evening commute.

Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511 or visit state-specific travel websites.
