Kansas City, MO – A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of north-central and northeast Missouri as freezing rain is expected overnight into Wednesday. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch could create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, the advisory will remain in effect from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST Wednesday. Areas including Kirksville, Chillicothe, Moberly, and Trenton could experience slick roads, particularly during the morning and evening commutes.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while driving. Power outages may also be possible due to ice accumulation on trees and power lines.

Residents can check the latest road conditions by calling 511 in Kansas or visiting traveler.modot.org for Missouri updates.
