Lake Tahoe, CA – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Lassen-Eastern Sierra Counties. Heavy snow and strong winds are forecast Friday, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin Friday morning, with totals reaching up to 12 inches in higher elevations. Lake-level accumulations may range from 1 to 4 inches. Wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected, while ridge tops could see gusts over 100 mph. Waves of 2 to 4 feet on Lake Tahoe will make boating dangerous.

Commuters should expect difficult conditions, especially across mountain passes like Yuba Pass and Highways 70 and 395. The advisory lasts from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.

Residents and visitors are urged to drive cautiously, secure outdoor items, and prepare for possible power outages. For road updates, call 511 or check local DOT resources.
