According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory remains in effect for Onondaga, Cayuga, and Madison counties through 1 p.m. Tuesday. Snowfall totals of 2–5 inches are forecast for the most persistent snow bands, with localized areas seeing up to 6 inches by midweek.
On Wednesday, snow showers will intensify, with highs near 34°F and winds gusting up to 14 mph. Nighttime lows will drop to the upper teens, creating icy conditions for the Thursday morning commute. Snow accumulations could reach an additional 3–4 inches, especially in higher elevations.
The week ahead remains frigid. Thursday will see continued snow showers and highs around 34°F, followed by a sharp dip to lows near 21°F Thursday night. Friday will be partly sunny but bitterly cold, with highs peaking at 28°F.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution on I-81 and I-90, where snow-covered roads may result in delays. Those commuting early should allow extra travel time and monitor updates for changing weather conditions.
