BOSTON, MA – A winter storm will bring snow, sleet, and freezing rain across Massachusetts on Thursday, creating dangerous travel conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, warning of slippery roads and reduced visibility.

According to the NWS, snow will begin early Thursday morning, with a mix of freezing rain and sleet by midday. Accumulations between 1 to 4 inches of snow and light ice buildup are expected. The storm will affect Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and surrounding areas, making highways like I-90, I-95, and Route 2 treacherous during commutes.

Friday will bring clearing skies and highs near 38°F, but another system could bring more snow Saturday night into Sunday. The weekend storm may transition to rain Sunday afternoon, impacting travel.

Residents should prepare for icy sidewalks, difficult driving conditions, and potential power outages. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, allow extra travel time, and check weather updates before heading out.
