Southern Indiana – Snowfall is set to create slick roadways tonight as a winter weather advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. EST.
The National Weather Service reports that southern Indiana and northern Kentucky can expect accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow. Areas including Jeffersonville, New Albany, and Madison in Indiana, as well as Louisville and Shelbyville in Kentucky, will be affected. Major routes such as I-65 and I-64 are likely to see hazardous conditions, particularly after sunset.
Travelers should slow down, increase following distances, and prepare for delays. Temperatures will drop below freezing overnight, which could lead to icy patches on untreated roads. Updates on road conditions can be accessed at 511in.org for Indiana and goky.ky.gov for Kentucky.
The advisory is set to expire early Sunday morning, but drivers should remain cautious through the day as snow and ice may linger. Looking ahead, the forecast calls for continued cold temperatures in the region, with another round of possible snow showers on Tuesday.
