Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Trinity County, effective from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday. Snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected, with higher accumulations in elevated mountain areas above 3,000 feet.
Travelers should anticipate difficult conditions, particularly in mountain passes where tire chains may be required. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution.
According to the NWS, the advisory highlights potential impacts on travel and warns of hazardous conditions in areas including Highway 3 and Scott Mountain.
Hanford, CA – A separate Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Yosemite National Park (outside of the valley) and the Upper San Joaquin River area. The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 4 p.m. Thursday.
The NWS forecasts snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches above 6,000 feet, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Hazardous conditions are expected to affect the Thursday morning commute in the region.
Travelers are advised to check road conditions by calling 511 and to prepare for winter weather impacts.
