Portland, OR – A winter weather advisory is in effect for the North Oregon Cascades and South Washington Cascades from 4 p.m. Saturday through 4 p.m. Sunday, with snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches expected above 3,000 feet. Gusting winds up to 40 mph may create hazardous travel conditions.
Snow levels will drop from 9,000 feet Saturday morning to around 3,000 feet by Saturday night, remaining low through Sunday. The heaviest snowfall is forecast for late Saturday night into Sunday morning, impacting areas such as Government Camp, Timothy Lake, and Mount St. Helens.
Ellensburg, WA – A separate advisory covers the Kittitas Valley and lower slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Freezing rain is expected to create a light glaze of ice, leading to slick and dangerous conditions on roads, bridges, and overpasses.
Eastern Washington Cascades Crest – Upper slopes in this region could see up to 10 inches of snow from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph contributing to reduced visibility and difficult travel.
Travelers in affected areas should carry emergency supplies, monitor road conditions via WSDOT or TripCheck, and prepare for delays and closures.
