Huntsville, AL – A winter storm watch has been issued for northern Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee from late Thursday night through late Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville. Residents across the region are being warned of the potential for heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions.
The forecast predicts snow accumulations between 4 to 6 inches, with localized totals possibly reaching 8 inches in some areas. The affected locations include cities such as Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, and Scottsboro in Alabama, and Fayetteville, Winchester, and Lynchburg in Tennessee.
The National Weather Service advises that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and dangerous. Motorists should avoid travel if possible, and those who must drive are urged to exercise extreme caution, allowing extra time and maintaining plenty of distance from other vehicles.
The weather system is expected to begin impacting the region late Thursday night and persist through Friday night. Officials recommend winterizing vehicles, staying informed of weather updates, and preparing for potential disruptions.
